Spencer Poulter  – biography

“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint’, then by all means paint and that voice shall be silenced.” Vincent Van Gogh

I’ve never questioned my want to be an artist. I am simply compelled to express myself with my hands. I consider myself a painter, but I lend myself to whatever medium speaks to me, whether that is paint, wood, en-caustic wax, bronze, print making, or my latest medium, film photography.  During my early 20’s I found myself figure modeling for fellow artists in order to make some dough. Through these experiences modeling I have found a new appreciation and love for figure photography.  My painting compositions range from realistic landscapes to expressionist abstract figures.  I never know what I’m going to create next, but I can promise you I will put my entire soul into it.
